
Radio Maria Internationally
- 1983 (Erba, Italy): a small parish studio called 'Radio Maria' is set up.
- 1987 (Erba, Italy): the 'Radio Maria Association' was established, bringing together the first volunteers and staff. This marks the real beginning of the Radio Maria Project.
- 1998 (Italy): the global process, which has become mission through the establishment of the World Family Of Radio Maria , is realized: to ensure the promotion, sharing and development of the Radio Maria Project worldwide.
- 2003 (Rome, Italy): first historic visit of World Family representative to Pope John Paul II
- 2008: Radio Maria is present in 50 countries around the world.
Radio Maria in Malta
- Foundation Date: 31st May 1995 (started transmitting on a local basis under the name of Radio 106)
- First Transmission: 1st April 1997, always on a local basis, transmissions started under the name Radio Maria. On the 17th June 2005, we started transmitting on a nationwide basis.
- Population coverage: 99%
- Number of Installations: 2
- Number of Staff: 4 full-time, 12 outside studios, 80 volunteer presenters.
- Hours of Programming: 94 direct hours, 19 recorded hours, 55hrs repetition.
- Percentage of Production: 92% internal, 8% external.
- Programme percentage: 66% spiritual, 8% information, 4% cultural, 6% prayer, 4% entertainment, 12% human promotion.
- Donations: the dontations cover the expenses of routine management.
Radio Maria officially inaugurated its transmission on the 31st May 1995. After nearly 10years as a local radio. Radio Maria for the past years is broadcasting on all the national territory of the Maltese archipelago i.e the two main islands of Malta and Gozo.
